Shirley is CEO for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Southern Africa and Regional Senior Partner, Southern Africa from 1 July 2019. She has been a Partner in PwC Assurance Services practice for 18 years. She is a Chartered Accountant and qualified Chartered Director Southern Africa (CD (SA)), and has over 28 years internal, external audit, risk management, compliance and governance experience within private and public sectors across all industries. She has published several articles on internal audit in the professional journals of the IPFA, JUTA and IIA. She is a renowned speaker and has presented at National, Regional level and International conferences. She served as a board member of the IIA SA and chair of its Audit, Finance and Risk Committee for 6 years before becoming President, a role she diligently played for two terms, i.e. 4 years. She served as Chief Audit Executive (CAE) for National Department of Justice from 1999 until March 2004

Before her role as CEO, she served in various leadership roles within PwC including the following:

She served on the PwC Global Government and Public Sector Leadership as well as the Global Diversity and Inclusion Leadership team. She is currently Partner-in-Charge of the Waterfall Office since 1 July 2018. She serves on the PwC Africa Leadership team and is chairperson of PwC Southern Africa Leadership team.

Keynote: Leading in Style

Zakhona is a seasoned anti-corruption practitioner and has spent over a decade in the field of governance and anti-corruption in South Africa. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner and holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University, she is an awardee of The Harvard South Africa fellowship, which is a fellowship that is awarded to mid-careers who model ethical leadership, knowledge sharing and serve as a resource to improve and transform their communities, she is also an awardee of the John F Kennedy fellowship from Harvard Kennedy School which she received in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement and professional promise with significant distinction.

She has special interest in the research of interface of gender and corruption, and finding context-responsive solutions, in 2021 she founded African Women Against Corruption Network (AWACN) to amplify the voice of women against corruption in Africa and focus the lens on the impact of corruption on women and girls. Zakhona serves as a Chairwoman of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Coalition Taskforce on Mainstreaming Gender in Anti-Corruption frameworks.

In 2023, Zakhona was awarded the Eisenhower Global Fellowship, recognising her as an emerging global leader creating a world more peaceful, prosperous and just!

Glowing in Darkness

Flee van Rensburg is the founder and Managing Director of The Learning Revolution, TLR Group (Pty) Ltd.

Flee’s involvement with speed reading began in 1974, as the first South African trainer of an American-based speed reading company. Her passion for the subject resulted in her leaving her career as a radiographer to pursue this opportunity.

She soon became director of the organisation and in 1978 founded the company in Zimbabwe, and successfully ran it for several years before returning to South Africa to establish the company in the Eastern Cape.

Flee subsequently completed the Institute of Personnel Management’s 3-year diploma in Human Resources Management and then lectured their second-year subject “Training II” for several years.

After many years in a leadership role in a training organisation, Flee formed The Learning Revolution; a company focusing on the development of human potential.

As MD she is responsible for the complete training function. This includes facilitation of all programmes offered, new programme development, customisation of existing programmes and quality assurance.

Flee brings to The Learning Revolution an empathetic, yet professional and fun style of leadership and coaching to assist both delegates of her programmes and her team achieve their full potential.

Developing Meaningful Relationships

Andrea Johnson is the Investigating Director at the NPA.

She is an admitted advocate and has been in the employ of the NPA for 25 years having commenced as a junior prosecutor at the magistrate’s court in Alberton on 1 June 1996. She has throughout her career prosecuted in all the levels of court in the land on various types of matters including those relating to the corruption against former National Police Commissioner, the late Jackie Selebi, the femicide of Chanelle Henning a young mother whose death was orchestrated by her estranged husband Nico Henning and a former Nigerian Olympic athlete Ambrose Monye as well as the much-publicised murder of Reeva Steenkamp at the hands of her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius.

She was the National head of Organised Crime from 1 February 2019 till 28 February 2022 and oversaw matters and strategies for the NPA relating to amongst others:
▪ Gangs
▪ Drugs
▪ Cash in Transit robberies
▪ Essential Infrastructure Damage
▪ Extortion in the Construction industry
▪ Cable theft/Cell-phone tower battery theft and damage
▪ The Unrest and Unrest related matters including those that will consider the instigators etc.

From 15 October 2021 to 28 February 2022 she also acted as the Special Director of the unit dealing with Terrorism matters in the NPA.

On 1 March 2002, she was appointed by the President to head the Investigating Directorate which looks at all state capture matters.

She is a passionate, robust and well-respected advocate. Her stakeholder management skills are beyond reproach and expectation and she is respected by law enforcement, her peers, judges, the legal fraternity, business and the everyday man/woman on the street.

She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and Zulu and her proficiency in the languages makes her a great communicator.

Her mantra is “I am truly, uniquely me and this me ensures that I am fit for whatever purpose circumstances require of me any day all the time.”
