Diagnosis: Increased medical fraud and corruption in Southern Africa. Prognosis: The death of many and a crippled Department of Health.
Some “medical” criminal and civil cases of fraud and corruption involving medical practitioners, government officials and civilians within South Africa and internationally will be analysed, as well as the resultant damages to the ill and general society. Relevant legislation like the National Health Act 61 of 2003 and some case law will be covered so that we as lawyers and auditors can assist in investigating these cases with successful evidence and investigative strategy.
