Agenda

  • 2:00 PM - 3:00 PMThe role of accounting and purchasing officers in combating fraud and corruption.
The mindset of corruption often disguises itself in grey areas, justified by reasoning such as “everyone else is doing it” or “this is how it has always been done.” Unfortunately, this line of thinking is perilous and can cause significant harm to both you and your business.
In this discussion, I will outline the actual costs of corruption to your business and explain why engaging in such practices is not worth the risk. Additionally, I will provide guidance on how to identify these grey areas and where to seek help to prevent fraud and corruption.

3:00 PM - 4:00 PMWhat preventative measures can we as fraud examiners apply to deter corruption?
For a reasonable period, all nations have spoken about fraud and corruption interchangeably for one and only reason that this is a scourge intended to devour the world and all nations without exceptions as it migrates.
As part of the value chain in the approval of the fraudulent transaction. What impact does it have on your reputation, that of the organisation you are part of and the country as a whole? Looking into South Africa being greylisted.

Which lessons can be shared with our sister countries to avoid falling into a trap of being greylisted as a result of how a country manages corruption cases? What more can be done by the SADC region to improve the greylisting status? For together we can do more in eradicating this scourge
